Obituary

William Luther “Bill” Fink, 89, of the Winecoff community in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born on June 17, 1936, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Homer and Helen Fink and the youngest of four brothers, Ed, H.L., and Doug.

Bill spent his entire life in the Winecoff area and was a proud graduate of Winecoff High School, Class of 1955, where he served as drum major of the school band. He later attended Pfeiffer College. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Jackson, beginning a marriage that spanned 70 wonderful years.

A dedicated worker and entrepreneur, Bill was employed for 25 years with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He later became co-owner of A & F Vending Company, where he continued serving the local community through his business.

Bill was deeply involved in his community throughout his life. He coached Little League baseball for many years and served as a volunteer firefighter with the Winecoff Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a lifelong member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for more than 70 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Bill loved fishing, golfing, shooting skeet, and spending time outside. He also enjoyed music, especially singing and playing the trumpet. Known for his lively spirit, Bill was funny, active, and was almost always heard happily whistling a tune.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Fink; his two children, Jeff Fink of Concord and Jill Fink Hodge (David) of Andover, Kansas; and his five grandchildren, Lauren Davis (Ben) of Wichita, Kansas; Bill Hodge (Alexa) of Andover, Kansas; Lorna Fink and Lydia Fink of Kernersville, North Carolina; and Landy Fink of Nashville, Tennessee and adopted grandson Randy Carter. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Henry and James Davis (Lauren and Ben) of Wichita, Kansas, and Jackson Hodge (Bill and Alexa) of Andover, Kansas. Another great-grandchild is due to Bill and Alexa in August.

Bill will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his love for his community, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and faith will live on in the many lives he touched.

Our family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the Atrium Healthcare Cabarrus team who took such good care of our loved one during his illness. From the amazing staff on the 4th floor to the receptionists and parking attendants, everyone we encountered at Atrium Healthcare Cabarrus was professional, attentive, kind and loving. Our loved one spent his final days in the care of the most patient, warmhearted and tender people we have ever encountered. We will never be able to thank you adequately for the comfort and support you provided Bill and his family during one of the hardest times in our lives.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in the sanctuary. The funeral service will immediately follow on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Kannapolis officiated by Rev. Dr. Nanney.
