Obituary: Kannapolis- Wayne Reid, 70, peacefully passed away Tuesday morning, June 19, 2018, at his home, following a period of declining health. Born January 29, 1948 I Iredell County, he was a son of the late William Paul Reid and Lorene Miller Reid. In addition to his parents, those preceding him in death were a brother, Billy Reid and sister, Barbara Reid Randall. Wayne devotedly loved his family and his country. He had honorably served his country in the US Army, during the Vietnam War. Mr. Reid was a gifted salesman most of his life and was an avid golfer. A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, Wayne will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Reid leaves cherished memories to his wife of 30 years, Sheila Stamey Reid; his daughters, Donna Reid Marlowe and husband, Seth, Julie Reid Black and husband, Ronnie, and Carissa Hamilton Kiser and husband, David; his grandchildren, Lauren Marlowe, Hailey Reed, Brooke Marlowe, Evan Reed and Emma Kiser; his sisters, Martha Mitchell and her husband, Doug, Margaret Combs and husband, James, and Linda Stewart and her husband, Gary; and his brother, "Butch" Reid and wife, Nelda. The family will receive friends Friday, June 22nd from 12:00-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Reid will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Lewis Whittington. Mr. Reid will be laid to rest in West Lawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by the NC Army National Honor Guard and the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mary Harvell for the love, care and concern given to Wayne, and to ICU nurses Kayla and Brian, for the tremendous care given to Wayne and his family.
