Wanda Sue Johnson, born Wanda Sue Martin, passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born on April 10, 1947, in Anderson County.

Wanda will be remembered as a woman who cherished her family and found joy in the simple, meaningful things of life. She worked as a smash hand at the mill, and beyond her work, she enjoyed caring for plants and gardening. She also loved crafting and miniatures, pursuits that reflected her creativity and patient spirit. Among her happiest memories were family trips to Pondarosa Campground at Myrtle Beach, times that brought loved ones together and created lasting moments of joy. She also held a special love for her favorite dog, Gidget.

Above all, Wanda’s family was at the center of her life. She is survived by her husband, William Johnson Sr. and by her sons, Kenneth "Sam" Johnson (Donna), and Theadore Johnson (Rebecca). Wanda was also blessed by 11 beloved grandchildren and 14 cherished great grandchildren. Those who knew Wanda will remember the love she gave to her family and the place they held in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherry Lynn Greene, and her son, William Johnson Jr.; her parents, James and Ivy Martin; her sisters, Gracie Wynn and Francis Denton; and her brothers, Big Boy and Bit.

Visitation will be held on September 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 South Main Street, China Grove, North Carolina 28023. A funeral service will follow from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., also at West Lawn Memorial Park. Burial will take place there from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Wanda Sue Johnson will be remembered with love for her devotion to family, her enjoyment of gardening and crafts, and the many memories she helped create with those she loved.
