Virginia Gaye St. John

Virginia Gaye St. John, 75, of Kannapolis, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Compass Healthcare & Rehab in Spencer, North Carolina. She was born on August 16, 1950, to the late D. Hugh and Faye Blackwelder.

Visitation for Gaye will be held at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis on Tuesday, November 25 from 11:00 am until the time of the service. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, with Deacon Liz Fisher officiating.

Gaye worked for Phil’s Shoes/RackRoom Shoes for over 50+ years. She then went to work for CVS. Gaye was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. She was a very active member of the Choir, Ladies Circle, Via de Cristo and volunteered anywhere that she was needed. Gaye enjoyed volunteering at the elementary school and going to concerts in the park. She loved music!

Those left to cherish her memory includes her sister, Rosetta (David) Everhart of Creston, NC; her brother, D.H. (Anita) Blackwelder, of Spartanburg, SC; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Jim St. John in 2017 and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church or Compass Healthcare & Rehab.
