Vera Sue Woodard Frettoloso Moss peacefully passed away on February 9, 2026, following complications from a recent cancer diagnosis. Although Vera spent the majority of her life in High Point, North Carolina, she spent her final years in Concord, North Carolina, to be closer to her children. She passed away just six days shy of her 89th birthday, surrounded by family during a brief stay at Atrium Health Hospice Care in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Born on February 15, 1937, in Pennington Gap, Virginia, Vera was the daughter of Manard and Kate Woodard. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Vera was also a generous and caring friend with a remarkable ability to connect with just about anyone she met. A faithful Christian, she was an active member of First Baptist Church in High Point for many years.
Vera was married to Salvatore “Sully” Frettoloso for 28 years, during which time they raised their three children and had a successful career in property management. Following Sully’s passing, she later married RV Moss, with whom she shared 29 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling and spending time at their second home, Moss Mountain, in West Jefferson, North Carolina. Vera had a deep love for the mountains.
Vera was preceded in death by her husbands, Salvatore “Sully” Frettoloso and RV Moss, and by her brother, Wilson Woodard. She is survived by her brothers, Raymond Woodard, and Jack Woodard; her daughters, Mena Parrish and her husband Dee, and Carmella Willard and her husband Ernie; and her son, Thomas Frettoloso and his wife, Oksana. She is also survived by her grandchildren: John Shufelt; Katie Whitesell and her husband Chris; Anna Parrish; Sully Martin Frettoloso; Andrew Willard; Carley Willard; Lisa Forest and her husband Nick; Richie Frettoloso and his wife Lorie; Leslie Palladino and her husband Jerry; Lori Frettoloso; Anthony Hall; and Matthew Walker; as well as her great-grandchildren, Gracie Whitesell, Lizzie Whitesell, Lilly Whitesell, and Rowland Frettoloso. She is also survived by RV Moss’s daughters, Dawn Walker and Debbie Zeringue.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 405 North Main Street, High Point, North Carolina 27260.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of High Point, North Carolina, or to Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Cabarrus, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, North Carolina 28081.
