Tonya Emelita Sechler Sossoman

Tonya Emelita Sechler Sossoman, 66, of Mt. Gilead, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at First Health Hospice House in West End.

Tonya was born November 9, 1959, in Iredell County, North Carolina to the late Charles Herman Sechler and the late Margaret Helen Tanner Sechler.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Danny H. Sossoman, and her brother, Steve Sechler.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis, officiated by Dave Trotter.

Survivors include her children, Hugh Jason Sossoman (Amanda) of Dallas, NC and Charity Harris (Matt) of Concord, NC; and grandchildren, Brandon, Mason, and Marshall Harris.

Tonya was the wife of a United States Marine and lived in Parris Island and Camp Lejeune during those years before returning home to be near family. She worked for Spector Wholesale Pet Supply in China Grove, where she formed lasting friendships.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Wey family for their treasured 30-year friendship and the many years of love and memories they shared. We are also deeply grateful to her wonderful friend Dave Trotter and to her devoted caregiver, Belisa Shaw, who became like family during this time, along with her husband, Ronnie, for their compassion and support.
