3:00 - 5:00 pm (Eastern time)
It is with deep respect and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Allen Sherrill, who departed this life on July 4, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on October 23, 1964, Thomas lived a life marked by kindness, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to those he cherished.
Thomas was a beloved friend, and valued presence in the lives of many. He is survived by his brother, Jeff Sherril. Also grieving his loss is Janet Bumgarner, his fiancé, who remained a close and steady companion over the last four years.
In remembering Thomas, it is also important to acknowledge those who preceded him in death: his father, Henry Sherrill, and his mother, Sarah Sherrill. Their guidance and love helped shape the person Thomas became, and their memory surely remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Thomas loved many things in life, though not many more than playing the guitar, singing, and his dog Priscilia, aka Root Root. He loved football; cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and was a running back at South Rowan High School when younger.
Though the simplest summary cannot truly reflect the depth of Thomas’s character or the significance of his presence, he will be remembered for his quiet strength, his gentle humor, and the caring nature he extended to family and friends alike. Thomas’s influence endures in the memories he created and the connections he nurtured.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Thomas's life and share their memories at a visitation on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home, located at 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd, Kannapolis, NC 28083. All who knew Thomas are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
Thomas Allen Sherrill will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. His life touched many, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
