Thomas (Dick) Marion Morgan, 85, of Stanfield died peacefully at home on June 25, 2026 after battling Dementia and other health concerns.
Tommy was born March 28, 1941 to Floyd Ellison and Mattie Pearl Helms Morgan. He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 63+ years, Brenda Kay Love Morgan. After Brenda’s passing, Tommy remained in his earthly home for 1 year and 11 months before his death. He is survived by his daughters Tammy Griffin and husband Mike of Stanfield and Talisa Linker of Locust. Tommy was the proud Pa Tommy of 4 grandchildren Emily Griffin Douglas (Brandon), Jerrika Linker Mullinix (Matthew), Brooke Griffin Hartsell (Jacob), and Nadalee Linker along with 6 great-grandchildren: Addilyn Mae Hartsell, Ellis Claire Mullinix, Taryn Hensley Douglas, Robert Tate Douglas, Tripp Allen Mullinix, and Jace Michael Hartsell. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Morgan Furr.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tommy was also pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Allen Linker and his siblings; Carl Morgan, Vann Morgan, Melvin Morgan, MacKinley (Mack) Morgan, Heath Morgan, Gilbert Morgan, Floyd (Junior) Morgan, Harold Morgan, Jane Morgan Johnson, Francis Ann Morgan, and Kinza Caroline Morgan.
A life-long resident of the Stanfield area, Tommy previously worked at Cannon Mills, Stanly Knitting Mills, and Control Services (Charlotte) prior to retirement. His free time was spent checking the cows, fiddling around in his building, and traveling the roads with his wife. Unofficially known as the “Mayor” of Honeycutt Road, he could be found mowing the sides of the road, picking up trash, or just riding around on his 4-wheeler or Kubota.
His Earthly presence will be missed and grieved, but as He always told anyone who would listen, When it is my time, I will get out of Dodge.
A Visitation and Time of Remembrance to celebrate his life will be held Sunday afternoon (2pm – 4pm) in the Fellowship Hall at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church in Stanfield.
Memorial donations may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care or Kinza Memorial Baptist Church.
