The family of Tanya McRae Carter, 81, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, is saddened to share her sudden passing on October 8, 2025, and takes comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of the Lord.
Tanya was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Carter, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. She was endlessly proud of her sons, Scott Carter (Sharon) and Trent Carter (Allison), and adored her grandchildren, Ansley and Jack, who brought her so much joy. Tanya is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Adcock (Grady), and many beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy “Dot” and Hardin “Hob” McRae, and her brother, Kenneth McRae.
Tanya had a heart for caring and service. She gave her time generously to Memorial United Methodist Church in Kannapolis, where her faith and kindness touched many lives. Outside of church, she found happiness in her garden—tending to her flowers and vegetables.
Those who knew Tanya will remember her warm smile, gentle humor, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength that will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A service celebrating Tanya’s life will be held at Whitley’s Funeral Home on Monday, October 13, 2025, with visitation beginning at 12:30. Service to follow onsite at the chapel at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 1100 West C Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
