Susie Rebecca Donehue Canupp, born December 13th, 1935 in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Whiteford Donehue and Mattie Gulledge Donehue. She married Richard Canupp on March 3rd, 1954 and they were married until his death in October 1991.

The family will be receiving at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis on Friday, October 2nd, from 11:00 to 12:00 followed by a chapel service at 12:00 and a graveside service at West Concord Cemetery.  

Susie worked at several hosiery manufacturing plants in Concord and Kannapolis during her life. She loved her family, listening to music, and meeting new people and telling stories of her life and childhood. Her unique brand of storytelling will be missed.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her two children, Cathy Gaskey and Patricia Simpson. Two brothers Willie “Joe” Donehue and Sidney “Shorty” Donehue. Three sisters, Lelia Mae Wallace, Ruby Wagner, and Louise Roberts.

Those left to cherish her memory include grandson Chad (Shannon), granddaughter Beth (Chris) and 2 great grandchildren. Sister Peg Bonds, Brother Charlie Donehue (Vicky), her oldest niece and honorary sister, Ruth Rivers, and several special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Copperfield Health and Rehab in Concord, NC for the care they showed Susie during the last two years.
