Steven Dell Rummage, 68, of Concord, passed away Monday morning, January 8, 2024, at his home, following a two-year illness.
Born June 23, 1955, in Stanly County, Steven was a son of the late Winfred and Evie Pickler Rummage. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were a brother, Dwight Rummage, and a sister, Shirley “Lou-Lou” Rummage.
Steven had honorably and proudly served his country with the US Army, serving during Vietnam. He retired from Pepsi, where he was a loyal and dedicated truck driver. Steven loved to fish, and especially enjoyed fishing tournaments with his son, Steven. A gifted singer and song writer, he had performed with the gospel group “Glory Train”, blessing many at various events for many years. A man of many talents, Steven was also a gifted poem writer and could fix anything. In his younger years, he was a tremendous baseball player. A kind hearted and well-liked man, Mr. Rummage will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Family members left with many cherished memories include his beloved wife of 33 years, Trudy Lambert Rummage; his sons, Steven Dell Rummage, II (Carla) and Michael Shane Rummage (Alisha); his step daughters, Kimberly and Leslie Starr; brother, Larry Rummage (late Shirley Rummage); his sisters, Dianne Crowley (Steve) and Debbie Rummage; his much-loved grandchildren, Brezlyn Dolly and Kennedy Jean Rummage, Justine, Angel, Ariel, Michael, Jayce and Gracie, and Emma and Phillip Freeman.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Monday, January 15th in Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, conducted by Preacher Paul Pickler. Burial will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park, with military graveside honors.
