Shirley M. Harkey

Shirley V. Morris Harkey, 90, of China Grove, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born on June 11, 1935, to the late Craig and Pearl Holshouser Morris in Rowan County.

Shirley worked for many years at China Grove Textiles. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking. Shirley loved taking trips with her family; it didn’t matter if it was in the mountains or some other place, she loved being with her family. Family was everything to Shirley. She had a regular routine for everyone she talked to on the phone; she always wanted to know about your day. Shirley will be dearly missed.

Those to cherish her memory include her three children, Cathy (Stephen) Garmon and Denise (Doug) Milem and Kenny (Tammy) Harkey; eight grandchildren, Westley (Lauren) Harkey, Hunter (Makenzie) Harkey, Angela (Cris) Uren, Carla (Anthony) Morgan, Stacy (Bubba) Rosenbaum, Stephanie (Jonathan) Featherstone, Kim (Steven) Evans and Jennifer Milem; 22 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Morris; nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Christina Baxter and her sister, Carlene Morton.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 S Main St, China Grove, NC 28023, with Pastor Shane Utley officiating.
