Shelia Rae Stancil Bittle, 71 of Landis, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 1, 2025. Several family members were honored to be by her bedside as she left this earthly world for Heaven.
Shelia was born on September 19, 1953, in Cabarrus County. She was the daughter of the late Ray Stancil and Agnes Franklin Stancil. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father, Ray Stancil, her mother, Agnes Stancil, her brother, Gene Stancil (Emmie), and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 years, Lloyd M. Bittle of the home; son, Todd M. Bittle (Jade) of China Grove, NC; first cousins/more like her sisters, Dr. Sharon M. Barnette of Landis, NC; and Hilda P. Shepherd of Concord, NC; and many other family and friends who were blessed to have spent time in her presence. Lloyd and Shelia were blessed with two grandchildren, Olivia (12) and Shepherd (4). In earlier years, she worked at Pillowtex Mills in the Washcloth Department and was blessed to work close to her cousin, Hilda, whom she loved dearly and laughed many hours away while working.
Shelia was a lifelong area resident and longtime member of Highest Praise Worship Center, having attended her church for over 33 years. She supported her place of worship and was an active prayer warrior, praying for those she knew and many whom she did not. Whenever the grandchildren or family would leave the home to go somewhere, Shelia would say, “Let your light shine for Jesus!”
This lady was a “lady of ladies”, a beautiful person who was so sweet and kind. She did so much for her family and always prayed for their every step in this life. Shelia’s sense of humor was so fun and loving. She could lift spirits and moods wherever she was and had a quick wit about her. Shelia was the love of Lloyd’s life, and he loved her deeply and felt loved by her. Over their 53 years together, he gave her his heart and everything possible he knew she desired.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am–11:00 am on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Highest Praise Worship Center, China Grove, NC. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary with Dr. Robbie Crisp, Senior Pastor of Highest Praise, and Bradley McDaniel, Pastor, Senior Pastor, His Table Church, officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, NC.
Memorial donations may be made to the Highest Praise Worship Center Building Fund, the American Cancer Society, or the donor’s choice.
Mary Lee Hall’s poetic words “Turn Again To Life” is what Shelia would desire you to do today, and until we all meet again in Heaven:
If I should die and leave you here a while,
Be not like others sore undone,
Who keep long vigil by the silent dust.
For my sake turn again to life and smile,
Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do
Something to comfort other hearts than thine.
Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine
And I perchance may therein comfort you.
