Sam J. Haithcock

Obituary: Sam J. Haithcock, Jr., 85, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the Brian Center of Concord. Born September 5, 1933 in Marlboro County, SC, he was a son of the late Sam J. and Janie Dew Haithcock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 siblings. Mr. Haithcock had the distinction of retiring after 25 years of honorable service from the US Marine Corps, where he had served in both Vietnam and Korea. Mr. Haithcock had also retired from the NC Department of Corrections and attended Memorial Baptist Church. Sam loved not only his country, but all of his family as well, and enjoyed time spent with them. Those left with cherished memories include his devoted wife of nearly 62 years, Pauline Gamble Haithcock; his children, Robin Haithcock, Tim Haithcock (Vicky) and Todd Haithcock (Kristi); his grandchildren, Sedalia, Haley, Casey and Courtney; his great granddaughter, Lucy; a brother, James "Buddy" Haithcock and sister, Gladys Spears. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Sunday, June 23rd, at Memorial Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mr. Haithcock's life will begin at 2:00 pm in the church, conducted by Pastor Jason Barber.
