Ruth V. Scercy Adams, 93, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home. She was born on June 4, 1932, to the late Sam Nolan Scercy and Myrtle Harriet Lewis Scercy.
Ruth had married the love of her life, Frank Adams, in 1951. They were married 58 years before his passing in 2009.
Ruth worked for FieldCrest Cannon for 26 years as an inspector before retiring in 1995. She was an avid gardener and loved going to her church. She was a longtime member of 1st Baptist Church of Enochville. She loved her Lord and Savior and the people she met through her love of the Lord. Ruth enjoyed cooking and tending to her family, especially her son. Ruth never met a stranger. She had a warm and caring heart that radiated to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Frank “Butch” Adams (Wanda); one grandson, Joshua Nolan Adams (Allison); three great grandchildren, Tate Nolan Adams, Chase Franklin Adams and Alexander Elijah Adams; one brother, Pete Scercy (Nancy); other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank Adams; one son, Todd (Yolanda) Adams and a granddaughter, Kristin Dianna Adams.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Whitley's Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis. The funeral service will follow on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis officiated by Pastor Lewis Whittington. Burial will immediately follow at Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 8502 Unity Church Road Kannapolis, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Iredell County.
