Russell Glenn Guthrie, a dedicated employee with UPS and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, passed away on September 26, 2025, in Cabarrus County. He was born on December 29, 1954, in Alamance County. Russell lived a life enriched by numerous interests and a passionate engagement with the people and activities he loved.

Russell was known for his technical savvy and mastery of many hobbies, showcasing his versatility and enthusiastic spirit. He held a longstanding affection for the UNC Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves, reflecting his deep appreciation for sports and team camaraderie.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his son, William Glenn Guthrie II and daughter-in-law, Ally; daughter, Katie Guthrie; sister, Cheryl Long and brother-in-law, Jeff; nephews, Bradley Long and his wife Kendall, Mike Lowe and his wife Amy, and Niece Shannon Girtman and her husband Owen. His grandchildren, Nolan and Camden Guthrie, were a source of immense joy for him.

Russell was preceded in death by his father, William Glenn Guthrie, and his mother, Margaret Guthrie, both of whom shaped the strong values that guided him throughout his life.

A memorial service celebrating Russell's life will be held on October 2, 2025, at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, North Carolina, starting at 5:00 PM, with a gathering of friends and family to follow until 6:00 PM. His legacy will endure through the love he shared, the stories he created, and the memories cherished by those he leaves behind.
