Rupert Lavon “Buddy” James

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Rupert Lavon James “Buddy” (79) on April 3, 2025. Born on December 14, 1945 to the late Rupert Samual James and Ruth Frances James, Buddy is survived by his wife, Naomi James; his four sons, Jeff James (and his wife Donna), Mark James, Kevin James (and his wife Brandy) and Andrew James; his step-children; Mitchell Sheets (his wife Nancy) and Rhonda Starnes (her husband Floyd); brothers, Wayne James (Terry-preceded in death) and Michael James (and his wife, Bonnie) along with 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Buddy loved his family and served as a dedicated Deacon at his church. He loved to fish and enjoyed outings with family and church family where “everybody loved Buddy.” He also proudly served his country in the Air Force. The family will be accepting friends on Monday, April 7th at Crown Pointe Baptist Church, 703 Tennessee Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083 with visitation beginning at 1:30pm and a celebration of life service beginning at 3:00pm. There will be a graveside service and presentation of colors on Friday. April 11th (3:00pm) at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC 28023. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations in his honor to his church (Crown Pointe Baptist Church).
