Surrounded by family, Ruby “Carolyn” Bland Wright, 76, of China Grove, went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, Monday, June 30, 2025, in the comfort of her own home.

Pleasant, Cassie Wright Roberts and her husband Nile of Cary, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Perry of Graham; one sister Gail Porter and husband David; four grandchildren, Colin Wright, Genevieve Wright, Victoria "Tori" Roberts, Marrok Roberts. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Leslie Foster and husband Mike, Christy Sutton, Amy Lilly and husband Dave; great nieces and nephews, Eric and Jennie Foster, Cameron Sutton, Nathan Lilly. She was preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Ruby Bland and a son Michael Perry of Burlington.
The beloved daughter, mother of two, sister of one, "Maw Maw" of four, and the aunt and friend to many in her church home and close friends, Carolyn courageously battled Cancer throughout her body for 46 days from her diagnosis to her passing. Her courage, unwavering faith and positivity were inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Carolyn accepted her battle and made everyone around her promise to “count victories” daily. Her light shined brightly even on her darkest days, and she was a brave warrior and fought her battle with faith for God, strength and humility. Her favorite thing to do was to count Victories each day. Her legacy and light will shine forever in those who loved her.
Carolyn was born January 18, 1949, and grew up in Burlington, N.C. She graduated from Western Alamance High School in 1967. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, her friends, and her greatest joy in life was being "Maw Maw" to her precious grandchildren. She lived a very full life and touched the lives of so many through her community and volunteer work with Bethel Wesleyan Church. Carolyn was always doing selfless acts of kindness for others. Carolyn was a Vacation Bible School leader, taught Children’s church during Sunday school, and helped with the Samaritan Kitchen through Bethel Wesleyan Church. Carolyn also helped with Bethel Wesleyan’s Fall Festival, along with their homeless bags for the shelter and packing back-packs for the children for back-to-school. Carolyn got joy from making meals and delivering them to church members and transporting church friends to appointments and meetings as needed. All these things brought joy to Carolyn’s heart as well as attending a Wednesday morning prayer group with her faithful church members. Carolyn loved helping others and was always there for those in need. Her favorite hobbies included reading, gardening, cooking and being around her grandchildren.
The family would like to express their thanks and love to their Bethel Wesleyan Church family and lifelong friends. Your love, compassion, care and support will never be forgotten by those who loved her dearly. The family is finding comfort knowing Carolyn loved doing Jesus’ work and knows she is home to be with Jesus. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8 from 1 to 3 PM, and Celebration of Life will follow the visitation from 3 to 4 p.m. at Bethel Wesleyan Church, Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Kannapolis, N.C.
