Royal "Hal" Overcash Jr., 73, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House. Born on May 12, 1953, in Mooresville, NC, he was the son of the late Paul James Rice and Mary Marie Bowles Rice.
Hal dedicated 30 years to Lippard Components and ventured into truck driving with Cardinal and Lance. Known for his kindness and generosity, he delighted in helping others and had a particular talent for fixing things. A devoted family man, Hal treasured time spent with loved ones and relished his moments fishing on the water. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Overcash; daughter, Tonda Hollars; and grandson, Andrew "Drew" Marlow, Hal's memory is also held by his departed siblings, Bunnie Ellis, Regena McClester, Toni Lance, and Ronnie Medlin.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Todd Overcash, Clyde Ross Jr. (Audrey), Angie Ross, Steve Ross (Teresa), Greg Ross, and Roy Lucas (Pam), Jeffrey Kiser. He leaves behind 16 grandchildren, Savanah Overcash, Chase Overcash, Jacob Ross, Tabby Rodriguez, Brooke Marlow, Spencer Ross, Jade Lindsay, Gregory Ross Jr., Kori King, Zackary Lucas, Trey Hollars, and Audrianna Martinez, Caitlin, JJ, Kaylee, Caleb Kiser, and seven Great grandchildren. Hal is also remembered fondly by his brothers, Rev. Michael Tolbert, James Talbert, Paul Talbert; his sisters, Glenda Clark, Sandra Newsome, and Jeanette Rogers.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Victory Temple with Rev. Gary Posey officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to visit from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service, at the church.
