Roy Lee Pittman, aged 80, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
Born on January 23, 1946, in Chesterfield, SC, Roy was the cherished son of the late Sidney Dillon Pittman and Gladys Jenkins Pittman. He dedicated much of his life as a mechanic, demonstrating a profound love for automobiles. In his earlier years, he held a paper route and briefly worked at Cannon Mills. Roy found joy in fishing at both lakes and beaches and was passionate about gardening, known for growing towering tomato plants. Time spent at the beach with family brought him great happiness. He was a gifted storyteller with a vibrant passion for racing.
Roy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Hardin Pittman, two children, Donna Pittman and Terry Wayne Pittman, and his siblings Cleve Pittman, Boyd Pittman, and Betty Cox.
He is fondly remembered by his surviving children, Jimmy Pittman (Kim), Patty Robbins (Roy), Ronnie Pittman, and Luke Pittman. His legacy continues through 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor Roy's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Alfred Kiesling, with burial following at Westlawn Memorial Park in China Grove. A visitation will take place before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Whitley's Funeral Home.
