Obituary: Roxie Louise Roberts, 83 of Kannapolis, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at CMC-Northeast in Concord. Mrs. Roberts was born on January 20, 1931 in Fulton County, GA., a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Roxie Ann Lunsford Davis. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James William Roberts who died January 16, 1972, a son Kenny R. Roberts, 2 brothers and a sister. Mrs. Roberts worked in the weave room at Cannon Mills for 47 years and most recently worked in the cafeteria at Winecoff Elementary school for 14 years. She was a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Roberts will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Rev. Bill Saylor officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM prior to the services on Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home. She is survived by two daughters; Iris L. Miller, and Glenda R. Floyd and husband Tim both of Salisbury, a brother; Floyd Davis and wife Angela of Weedowee, AL., sisters; Stella Mabry of Reidsville, and Bell Williams and husband Bob of Power Springs. GA., 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
