Rose “Marie” Shoup Roefer, 61, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Marie was born on January 14, 1965 in Mecklenburg County. She was born to the late Richard Shoup Jr. and cherished by her mother, Judy Faye Stevenson Shoup. Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Skip” Wallce Roefer Jr; and sister, Angela Bishop.

Marie was truly special woman whose spirit touched everyone she met. She was one of a kind, the life of the party, full of laughter, light, and a heart that never turned anyone away.

Marie was always there for others. She was like a local mother to many. Marie always made time for those who needed advice, comfort, or simply someone to talk to.

She found joy in the simple things, fishing late into the night, spending time at the beach, camping, and soaking up the sunshine. Marie had a gift for gardening and could make anything grow.

A hardworking woman, she took pride in all she did and showed deep love and devotion to her family, especially in the care she gave her mother.

Marie adored her dog, Mattie, who was always a comforting companion. She loved music, especially classic rock and alternative rock. Marie loved artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, and rocking out with her daughter, Megan and best friend, Terry.

Marie leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unforgettable memories. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Megan Roefer (Joshua Bentley); mother, Judy Shoup; sisters Phyllis Taylor (Michael) and Jessica Lynn Shoup; brother, James Shoup; sisters-in-law, Dorene Dean, Frances Romano-Daly, and Karyn O’Malley (Tom);nieces and nephews, Adam Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Logan Taylor And Matt Roefer; and life-long best friend, Terry Grover.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
