Roger Lamar Mullis, 77, of Denver, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Roger was born on August 19, 1948, in Mecklenburg County. He was a cherished son of the Late Edgar Franklin Mullis Sr. and Kathellen Hazel Johnson Mullis.

Roger was a talented carpenter and artist who could create, paint, or draw just about anything. His remarkable skills became part of Carowinds history, where he appeared in one of the park’s first commercials as the actor in the Rocky costume. He also helped create the wooden horses on the carousel and the lanterns for the Gold Rush ride, leaving behind pieces of his talent for generations to enjoy. Above all, he was a kind and caring father who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Wendy Billips (Dennis), Ashley Cody and Nydia Conley; brother, Edgar Mullis Jr. (Judy); grandchildren, Lillian Richards, Lucille Billips, Ava Mullis, Isreal Marquez, Annalisse Marquez, Bailey Conley and Aspyn Huffman; great-grandchildren, Sophia Richards, Colton Richards, and Levi Richards; Roger was also blessed with two special friends, Kevin Langill and Mike Lee.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Hillcrest Garden Cemetery- 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy, Mt Holly, NC 28120
