Obituary

Roger “Podge” Crawford Moore Jr., 85, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 20.

Born August 8, 1941, in Littleton, NC, he was the son of Roger and Ruby Moore.

A proud graduate of NC State University, Class of ’64, he earned his degree in Parks and Recreation while playing fullback for the Wolfpack throughout all four of his college years. His love for NC State—especially football—never faded. He was also a dedicated member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and an Eagle Scout, accomplishments that reflected his character, discipline, and commitment to community.

Roger found happiness in the simple but meaningful pleasures of life: time spent with family and friends, dancing, cheering on NC State, and admiring classic cars. He carried a gift for making others feel welcome, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those fortunate enough to know him.

Roger is survived by his children, Roger Vinson Moore and wife Alice, and Brooks Moore Ehrke and husband Chris. He was a proud granddad to Emmett Crawford Moore, Ruby Madelyn Ehrke, and Thomas Palmer Ehrke.

Roger’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless memories shaped by his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. His life was full, his impact lasting, and he will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his parents Roger Crawford Moore Sr and Ruby Palmer Moore. As well as his brother Horace Moore
