Robin Annette Hunter Suggs

Robin Annette Hunter Suggs, 63, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born in Cabarrus County on April 2, 1963, to the late Roy and Lena Caudill Hunter.

Robin married Chic Suggs on August 4, 1984, at Bethpage Presbyterian in Kannapolis.

She attended A.L. Brown High School and would have been in the Class of 81. She was a Spooler in Cannon Mills in Kannapolis from 1979 to 1985 and then she joined the family business alongside of her husband as a server, cook, etc, at Lee’s Sandwich Shop until 2017.

Robin cherished her family and enjoyed spending time at the lake, the beach, the mountains with them all. She loved her sisters, Judy and Darlene and they spent as much time with them as possible, they were as close as sisters could be.

It did not matter the temperature outdoors or indoors, she was cold. If we loaded up on the boat on a cool spring day, you best believe she had at least 5 layers on AND the hood of her jacket was up and tied tight around her face.

Soup was a food group. If a menu had soup OR if you asked Robin what she wanted to eat - soup was the answer.

The biggest animal lover we will ever know. If a cat wandered up or someone called her about a cat needing a home, she would immediately spring into action. Rescue the cat, get them checked out at the vet, spay/neuter visits, incorporate them into the zoo she already had, and if those cats were sick, you better believe they received the best possible care. She absolutely loved “The Walking Dead” and most of her cats were named after characters from the show. Don’t even get me started about Russ, her beloved pup. The sun would rise and set with that little guy.

Robin was a hell of a fisherman -We’d put her against any professional. But don’t let her line get hung up and don’t let Chic try to readjust the boat, because you will catch hell.

She loved the beach. Take her chair, her music, and a cooler down for her and she’s not going to move until dusk. Oh, and don’t dare put her chair in the shade. Robin could find a shark’s tooth in record time. It was nothing for her to walk back over to our group with at least 5 just laying in her palm - she would have only been looking for a few minutes.

We could go on and on for days about Robin. Our family trips will never be the same. Cherry Grove, Tybee Island and Savannah, or just a quick weekend trip to the mountains. Robin left her mark on her favorite places, and I know her spirit will be surrounding us when we make those trips again without her now.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 42 years, Chic Suggs; her daughter, Heather (Drew) Young; her two sisters, Judy H. Tucker and Darlene H. Chavis; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, numerous cats, her dog, Russ and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Cathy H. Marlowe and Kimberly H. Black; her niece, Lisa T. Brown and her nephew, Christopher Marlowe.

Robin’s family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannpolis. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 6:00 PM with Pastor Alan Woodie officiating.
