Robert “Bobby” Franklin Blackmon, 81 years old, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 18, 2022. Robert was born in Charlotte, NC on August 30, 1940 to the late Carl and Margaret Baker Blackmon.
Robert graduated from North Mecklenburg High School. He proudly served our Country in the US Army. After serving his nation, Robert ran the Log Cabin Fish Camp in Charlotte for 30 + years. He then went to work for Ferguson Box Company and later retired from West Brother’s Company.
Robert was a devoted Christian man, who loved his church and his Lord. He was a member of Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church in Kannapolis, he loved to fish and loved to sit on the porch with his best friend Cujo.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sylvia Porter Blackmon; his sons, Robert Blackmon and his wife Anjie, Jimmy Blackmon and his wife Connie, Lonnie Blackmon and his fiancé Anjali, and Joshua Blackmon; his daughters, Elizabeth Cowles, Phyllis Cooper and her husband Jeff and Sybil Kirks and her husband Kevin; his brother, Buren Blackmon and his wife Betty Jo; his sister, Linda McKinney; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home and Wednesday from 11:30 am to 12pm at Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church, 611 Ben Ave., Kannapolis, NC. with a funeral service to follow at 12pm officiated by Rev. Don Draughn. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery with honors.
