Robert William Sihler

Robert William Sihler, 84, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center after a brief illness surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 11, 1941, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late William Sihler and Emilie Mersereau Sihler.

Robert proudly served in the United States Army for 14 years and was stationed in Texas and Vietnam. After his military service, he returned to Brick, New Jersey, where he worked as a New Jersey State Trooper until becoming disabled in the early 1980s.

After he was honorably discharged, he volunteered his time training ROTC cadets for future military service. In 2021, Robert relocated to North Carolina.

He enjoyed collecting model cars and had a deep interest in military history. Robert was also an avid gun enthusiast and took great pride in practicing and promoting gun safety.

He is survived by his three sons, Christopher (Patricia) Sihler, Robert Sihler, and James (Lori) Sihler; seven grandchildren, Alina (Brielle) VanNicolich, Christopher, Robert, Chloe, Samuel, Ava, and Nicole; his sister, Linda Sihler; and other relatives and friends.

In accordance with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
