Roger Gene Laney, 69, of China Grove, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Roger was born June 30, 1956, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, to the Late Douglas Broadas Laney, Sr. and the late Mary Martha Head Laney.

He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Wonda Sanders and brother-in-law, Stanford Cagley of Harriman, TN.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Curtis Parker officiating. Burial will immediately follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 S. Main Street, China Grove.

Survivors include wife of 24 years, Edna Barry Laney of the home; children, Nathan (Jessica) Green of Advance, NC and Caressa Green of China Grove, NC; grandchildren, Makala, Zayden and Nikkoe Green of Advance, NC; Matthew and Katelyn Green of China Grove, NC; brother, Robert (Reba) Laney of Morristown, TN; niece, Sherry Laney of Statesboro, GA; nephew, James Robert (Niki) Laney of Mooresburg, TN and aunt, Shirleen Fisher of Huntersville, NC.

Roger loved to fish and travel. He was a member of South China Grove Baptist Church.
