Robert “Bob” Ritchie, 82, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Bob was born on March 24, 1944, in Rowan County. He was a cherished son of the late Jessie Monroe Ritchie and Mary Lee Atwell Ritchie.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 61 years, Anita Hooks Ritchie; sons, Scott Ritchie (Teresa), Brian Ritchie (Renee), and Kevin Ritchie (Tonya); grandchildren, Jennie, Josh, Ashley, Trent; great-grandchildren, Conner, Travis, Chloe, Easton, Dakota, Colton, Lane, and Wrenley; brothers, Jerry Ritchie, Johnny Ritchie, and Kenny Ritchie; and his loyal companion his dog, Spot.

Bob loved his family, animals, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite times were fishing trips to the coast with his family. He was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt.

Bob worked as a truck driver for Fredrickson and Overnight for 35 years. He was also a member of Rodgers Park Reform Church.

He will be remembered and missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 2:00pm with Rev. Randall Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
