Richard Lee Nantz

Richard Lee Nantz, aged 82, of China Grove, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus. Born in Iredell County to the late Oscar Lee Nantz and Cora Margaret Leazer Nantz Feltz, Richard led a life marked by dedication and passion.

He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Conflict. Following his military service, Richard built a successful career as a general contractor until his retirement. A devoted member of West Corinth Church, he was an avid bass fisherman, actively participating in a fishing club and the Bassmasters. He also cherished camping, enjoying the great outdoors.

Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose family meant the world to him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelia Godfrey.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley Nantz; six children, Robert Nantz (Wendi), Donna Godfrey (Tony), Allan Nantz (Emily), Leslie Nantz, Scott Lewis (Connie), and Wendi Hargett (Brian); three brothers, Perry Nantz, Samuel Nantz, and Eddie Wayne Nantz; a sister, Judy White; sixteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor Richard’s life will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at West Corinth Church with Pastor Tom Wiggs officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Corinth Baptist Church, 120 Corinth Church Rd, Mooresville, NC 28115.

Richard’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
