Rena Elizabeth Whitley Kluttz

Rena Elizabeth Whitley Kluttz, a cherished resident of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 96 in Brookdale of Concord. Born on May 8, 1929, in Stanly County, she was the beloved daughter of the late Claudius Albert Whitley and Fannie Caroline Eudy Whitley.

Rena's legacy is woven through her unwavering dedication to family and community. She spent many fulfilling years as a secretary at Kluttz Brothers, Inc., where her contributions were well recognized. As an active member of the First Baptist Church, her commitment to serving others shone brightly. Rena had a profound love for flowers, which served as a reflection of her nurturing spirit.

Being the last of nine children, Rena carried forward the values instilled in her by her parents and displayed them throughout her life. She was a great seamstress, often sharing her talents with those around her. Her warmth and encouragement were a source of strength to her loved ones, as she was known for her ability to uplift and inspire.

Rena was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harry A. Kluttz Jr., as well as four brothers—Earl, Aubrey, Claude, and Ray Whitley—and four sisters—Mildred Smith, Polly Miller, Bessie Duggins, and Gertrude Widenhouse.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her son, Howard Kluttz (Karen), her daughter, Susan Kluttz Clay (Chris), her granddaughter, Whitney Coonradt (Scott), her grandsons, Harrison Kluttz, Corbin Clay (Karla), and five great-grandchildren: Carolina, Riley, Savannah, Cayden, and Tinley. Additionally, she is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews whose lives she touched.

In celebration of Rena's life, a visitation will be held at Rena’s home, located at 138 Arlington Ave. SE, Concord, NC 28025, from 4-6 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025. A private service will be conducted at a later date.
