Raymond Joseph Ninteau Sr., age 79, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House.
Born on September 11, 1946, in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of the late Lucien and Helen Ninteau. Raymond honorably served his country in the U.S. National Guard for 8 years. Beyond his military service, he was a dedicated businessman, owning and operating a flooring company. In his later years, he enjoyed sharing his time and friendly spirit at the Webb Road Flea Market.
Raymond had a passion for music, especially playing the drums, and was admired for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He was known for his memorable one-liners and was often the life of any gathering. A natural conversationalist who never met a stranger, he brought joy to those around him. In his youth, Raymond enjoyed boxing, earning several awards, and was affectionately nicknamed “Blackout.” He delighted in annual trips to the fair, playing carnival games, and also had a fondness for the lottery.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured his family deeply. Raymond is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Jo Carol Turner Ninteau; three children, Carol Ninteau, Raymond Ninteau Jr. and his wife Wendy, and Kim Woods and her husband Marc; four grandchildren, Brae, Trey, Ty, and Josiah; as well as his brothers Edward and Ricky Ninteau and sister Jeanie Vidier.
A funeral service to honor Raymond’s life will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Gary Scoggins officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cabarrus County Hospice and Palliative Care, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Online condolences may be shared at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
Raymond’s warmth, humor, and loving spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
