Obituary

Ralph “Guy” Hendren, 95, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

Guy was born on March 8, 1931, in Cabarrus County. He was a cherished son of the late James Clyde Hendren and Edith Bost Hendren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudine Herrin Hendren and second wife, Gail Powers Hendren; stepdaughter, Diane Wagner; brothers, J.C Hendren and Carl Hendren; sister, Merle Hendren Honeycutt; granddaughter, Michelle Ann Brooks; niece, Jody Hendren Lambert; and nephew, Randy Honeycutt.

Guy spent many years working at Cannon Mills and took great pride in being part of Kannapolis history. Known for his storytelling, Guy shared his knowledge of Kannapolis with anyone willing to listen, keeping its past alive. His first job was at the Gem Theater, where his lifelong connection to the community began.

Guy found happiness in riding motorcycles, taking road trips, and enjoying good meals, especially at his favorite spot, The Classic in Denton. He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found tending his garden, growing vegetables, or working proudly on his tractor in his yard.

Guy loved the Lord and was a member of North Kannapolis Methodist Church and Memorial Methodist Church. His faith was not only something he believed in but something he shared freely. He would often sit on his porch, welcoming passersby to stop, talk, and listen as he read from the Bible and spoke about his faith.

He was known for his generous heart and giving spirit, always willing to help anyone in need. Guy loved his family and his community deeply, and he will be remembered for his kindness, his stories, and his faith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his granddaughter, Jennifer Brooks Thompson (Max); great- granddaughter. Macy Sullivan; stepson, Dewey “Buddy” Wagner; cousins, Colleen Cook, Linda Hendren and Brenda; niece, Amy Moon (Frank); Nephews, Dennis Honeycutt, Tim Hendren Jimmy, Johnny and Jeffery Hendren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with Frank Antonitis officiating.
