Rachel Louise Combs Reece

Rachel Combs Reece, 93, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Rachel was born on May 9, 1932 in Cabarrus County. She was a cherished daughter of the late William “Mack” Combs and Easter Arthurs Combs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven siblings; her beloved husband, Conrad Allen Reece; her son, Gary Allen Reece; and granddaughter, Dawn Marie Reece.

Rachel was a remarkable woman whose hands were rarely still and whose heart was always open. She found joy in the simple, meaningful rhythms of daily life: cooking meals that brought family together, keeping a warm and orderly home, and tending to her beloved garden. Rachel made it her mission to check on those who were struggling or ill, bringing a delicious meal with her. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rachel was a longtime member of Bethpage United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women’s group. She was a strong and caring person who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Shirley Reece Shinn & husband, James; grandchildren, Angela Shinn Stevens & husband, Mark; Jonathan Shinn, and Gerald Shinn & wife, Jamie; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Bethpage United Methodist Church in Kannapolis. Funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:00AM with Rev. Mckenize Sefa officiating.
