Quita Joy Mullis

Quita Sprinkle Mullis, age 91, of Concord, NC, passed away on August 27, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born in Kannapolis, NC to Norbet Paul Sprinkle and Grace Etta Blevins Sprinkle, she spent her life as a homemaker and nurse until retiring from Trinity Oaks, formerly The Lutheran Home, in Salisbury, NC. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing all she grew with others. A remarkable lady, she returned to school in her 40’s to become a licensed practical nurse. She attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College, formerly Rowan Technical Institute, and graduated at the top of her nursing class. She enjoyed nursing until her retirement in 1997.

Quita loved playing games and made the best chocolate layer cake ever. She loved reading anything about health and finance to religion and fiction. She studied her Bible and looked for opportunities to share her faith in the Lord with others. As a member of The Message Community Church, formerly the Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church, for over 50 years, she was active in Women’s Ministries and the Willing Worker’s Sunday School class.

Quita is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Debby Kimberlin and Tina Haynes and Mike Haynes. She leaves 4 four grand children and spouses, Leighanne Doolittle, Mike Kimberlin (Ursula Kimberlin), John Kimberlin, and Joy Haynes who also survive her. Additionally, Quita has 4 great-grandchildren, Pam Doolittle, Kassidy Peyton, Jordan Kimberlin, and Emily Kimberlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbet Paul Sprinkle and Grace Etta Blevins. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Venay Seamon (Tommy) and Norvel Sprinkle (Frances).

A celebration of life will be held on held on August 31, 2026 at 2:00pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Family will receive friends at 1:00pm also at Whitley’s. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to The Message Community Church, 1008 Moose Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to Tucker Hospice House, and to all the staff who cared for Quita as they would have cared for their own.
