Particia Lynn Tate Van Dolson, 85, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 surround by her loved ones.
Patricia was born on October 21, 1940 in Livingston, New Jersey. She was a cherished daughter of the late John Franklin Tate and Agnes Margaret Anderson Tate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Joseph Van Dolson; and her siblings, Judy Fonti, Lorraine Mackiewicz, Robert Tate, Margaret Hughes, Linda Tate, and Carolyn Basto.
Born the second oldest of seven, she was the last surviving sibling of a close-knit family whose bond shaped her entire life.
Patricia was devoted hard worker throughout her life. She spent many years in retail and waitressing. No matter how long the day, she always made time for her family. Caring for others came naturally to her—she supported, encouraged, and loved without hesitation.
Patricia had a bright personality and a style all her own. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she liked to joke around any chance she got. Patricia loved to shop and could spot a good deal from a mile away. Leopard prints, sherpa blankets, and anything fashionable brought her joy. She enjoyed music, especially Willie Nelson, Elvis, and The Platters. She cherished evenings spent watching her favorite movies and TV shows. She loved the beach, where the sound of the waves brought her peace, and she enjoyed going to shows like the Dixie Stampede.
Animals held a special place in her heart, especially her faithful dog, Pixie. Pixie stayed by her side through everything, offering comfort and companionship that meant the world to her.
Above all, she was one of the most giving souls one could ever meet. She thought of others first, helped anyone she could, and loved her family fiercely. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love shaped the lives of everyone who knew her.
She will be deeply missed, but her family finds peace knowing she is surrounded once again by the loved ones she cherished so much.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, numerous grandchildren, and many other friends and family.
A graveside service to honor Patricia’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Belvidere Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
Patricia requested that anyone attending the service to please wear their favorite hat.
