Orion "PeeWee" W. Stitt III

Orion “PeeWee” W. Stitt III, 77, of Rockwell, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 7th, 1949, in Miami, FL to the late Orion W. Stitt, Jr. & Alice Smith Stitt.

PeeWee had such a strong work ethic, never slowed down, continuing to work until his passing as a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years & was also a Truck Driver for 20+ yrs.

PeeWee loved life, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandpa & uncle who cherished every moment spent with those he loved.

He found joy in the simple things — spending time outdoors, mowing the grass, working in the yard, fishing, & admiring old cars at car shows. PeeWee was a proud patriot who loved eagles, the American flag & watching classic westerns, especially anything starring John Wayne.

He also had a sweet tooth that everyone knew well, never passing up ice cream, cake or his favorite sweets. PeeWee’s kind heart, love for family & appreciation for life’s simple pleasures will be deeply missed & forever remembered.

PeeWee is survived by his loving Wife of 59 years, AnnaMarie DiSanto Stitt, Three Daughters, Sophia (Tom) Westfall, Lisa Martin, Patty (Todd) Parris, his brother Dale (Melody) Stitt, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was welcomed into Heaven with a pot of coffee by his beloved Mom, Dad, brother Charlie Stitt & sister, Linda Anderson.

Family & Friends are invited to celebrate PeeWee's life at Whitley’s Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083, on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, at 3pm til 5:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in PeeWee’s memory to the following organizations that were close to his heart: Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project & St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
