In Loving Memory of Nicholas Garlie Salamanchuk

Nicholas Garlie Salamanchuk, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose presence lit up every room he entered.
Born on December 13, 1946, Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Annie Salamanchuk; his brother, Mark Salamanchuk; and his beloved son, Roger Sutton and grandson Joshua Henry.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Margie “Sally” Salamanchuk; his daughters Sherry Porter, Carlena Sutton, and Lisa (Tony) Honeycutt; and his cherished grandchildren Amber Taylor, Mathew Porter, Kearson (Michael) Giglio, Taylor Aldridge, Samantha (Shawn) Norris, Frankie McQuery, and Star (Joe) Campbell. He also leaves behind many adored great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Lilly.
Nicholas was a man of many passions and talents. Known for his warm personality and gift of conversation, he was a true social butterfly, especially during breakfast outings with his friends. He had a lifelong love of automotive transmission work and was widely respected for his skill and dedication in the field. A talented auctioneer, Nicholas had a commanding voice and a quick wit, always able to engage a crowd.
He found great joy in spending time in West Jefferson and the mountains, a place where he felt closest to peace and nature. An avid collector, Nicholas took pride in his extensive collections of guns and coins. While stern when needed, he was a deeply loving family man who always made time for those he loved, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him so much joy.
His legacy is one of strength, love, laughter, and loyalty. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
