Mary "Dollie" Ruth Burgess

Mary Ruth “Dollie” Burgess, 92, of the Enochville community died Friday, June 19, 2026, while at Best of Care in Kannapolis.

Dollie’s funeral will be held at St. Enoch Lutheran Church at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 23, with Pastor Dale Cline officiating. Her family will receive friends in the sanctuary the hour prior starting at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mary was born May 11, 1934, in Rowan Co. NC, a daughter of the late Richard and Edna Morrison Swink. She was a lifelong area resident and longtime member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church. She attended Landis schools. Dollie worked as the head Cashier for Table Supply. Mary was an avid reader and loved playing Canasta with her friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Bradford Burgess in 2019; her daughter, Kelley Burgess; and one sister, Shirley James. Mary is survived by her sons; Lynn Burgess (Frances) of Concord and Mark Burgess (Rhonda) of Enochville, her daughter, Ruthie B. Woodward (Bennie) of China Grove, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Dollie is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
