Martha “Diane” Griffin was called to her heavenly home on Sunday morning, March 15, 2026, surrounded by family at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville. Diane was the Matriarch of the family and greatly loved by many. Her smile and dimples could light up a room, and she will be greatly missed.
Diane was born in Concord, NC on August 6, 1942, to Heron E. Readling and Merry Jewel Caldwell Readling.
She graduated from A. L. Brown High School, and she retired from Fieldcrest Cannon after many years of service.
She loved the water and loved her Lake Norman neighborhood there. She also adored her little Havanese puppy “Pepper”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Heron E. Readling and Merry Jewel Caldwell Readling, and a brother, Michael Caldwell Readling.
Diane is survived by her husband of 23 years, James “Jim” C. Griffin; a son, Mark S. Trammell and wife, Jackie; and a daughter Amy T. Greer and husband, Jeff.
She was blessed with four grandchildren: Amanda T. Stanley and husband, Jason; Jonathan A. Greer; Kristin T. Black and husband, Trevor; Justin L. Greer and wife, Brittany- and five great-grandchildren: Maddie, Brantley, Blakelyn, Charlie, and Rory.
She is also survived by her longtime friend, Gail Stack of Kannapolis.
Diane enjoyed spending time with her friends in “The Club” including Carol Lee, Judy Weckerly, Pam Warren, and Sue Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Whitley's Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will follow on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis officiated by Pastor Curtis Parker.
Diane loved flowers and floral gifts are very much appreciated.
