Marley Rand Stegall, 63, of Davidson, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. He was born on July 12, 1962, in Mecklenburg County.

Rand proudly served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserves. Throughout his life, he was a highly respected high school football coach at several schools, where he positively impacted countless young athletes. He was also the proud owner of Sabre Industries, dedicating himself to his work with the same determination he brought to every aspect of his life.

Rand had many passions. He enjoyed collecting and building firearms, was a devoted Elvis fan, and took great pride in earning his black belt in karate this past year—a testament to his perseverance and discipline. He had a deep appreciation for history, particularly the Civil War and General Custer, and found great enjoyment in researching his family's genealogy.

Intelligent, tough, and hardworking, Rand never hesitated to make sacrifices for those he loved. His family was the center of his world, and one of his greatest joys was being a grandfather to Tamara, a role he cherished with immense pride and love.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Randall Stegall and Brandon (Karlie) Stegall; his granddaughter, Tamara Stegall; his parents, Patricia and Charles Burns; his sister, Sharon (Mitch) Houser and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Rand’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Time for visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Burial will be at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 501 Statesville Boulevard Salisbury, NC 28144. DATE to Be Determined. Please look back on Monday afternoon for this information.
