Marion Elizabeth Williams Thompson

Marion Elizabeth Williams Thompson, 79, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Wellmore of Tega Cay.

Marion was born December 13, 1946, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to the late Charles O. Williams and the late Nellie Mae Gillien Williams.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Adam Wayne Thompson and sister, Gloria Jean Williams.

Survivors include brothers-in-law, Coy Thompson (Jean) and James Thompson (Paulette). In addition, she was known affectionately as "Aunt Marion" and "Nana" to many generations of nieces and nephews.

Though they did not have children of their own, she and Wayne spent their lives showering everyone else's kids with love and attention. Marion was involved in church and enjoyed scrapbooking. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the memory care staff of Wellmore and the hospice team of VIA Health for the constant comfort and support they provided.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis officiated by Pastor Eddie Willis. Burial will immediately follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1350 S Main St, China Grove.
