Marcia Geneva Dunlap

Marcia Geneva Dunlap, 74, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Atrium Health Cabarrus. She was born February 13, 1951, to C.A. and Ruby Bumgarner Sloop.

Marcia Graduated from AL Brown High School in 1969, Forever Bound. She worked for Cannon Mills from 1970 until retirement in 1995. Marcia served as Cubmaster and assistant Scout master of Cub and Boy Scout Troop 207 at Lane Street Baptist Church from 1984-2000. Marcia enjoyed baseball, scouting, plastic canvas, cross stitching and different types of puzzles.

Marcia is survived by her husband of 51 years, G. David Dunlap; her brother, Steve Sloop (Patricia) of Rockwell; her sister, Wanda Sloop Blackwelder (Bennie) of China Grove; nieces, nephews, one great nephew and two great-great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her son, G. Donovan Dunlap in 1998; her sister, Patricia Sloop Wallace and her brother, Chris Sloop.

Marcia’s family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the Multiple Sclerosis Association.
