Mabel “Blondell” Self Overcash, age 95, of the Enochville community, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, while residing at Best of Care Nursing and Assisted Living Center in Kannapolis.
A memorial service to celebrate Blondell’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 3, at St. Enoch Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Cline officiating, assisted by Pastor Demps Overcash. Her family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the memorial service. Her urn will be placed in the Columbarium in the church cemetery.
Blondell was born December 24, 1929, in Cabarrus Co. A daughter of the late Lester and Rose Callicutt Self. In addition to her parents, Blondell was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Demps Ray Overcash, Sr., her son Mark Overcash, her daughter Marla Frances Todd, her grandsons Dana and Brent Overcash and her granddaughter April Poteat and her sisters Kathleen Overcash and Romona Stone.
Blondell was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a woman of faith, which was expressed by her gift of song writing and poems. Blondell was a longtime member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church in Kannapolis and sang in the choir for many years.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, Pastor Demps Overcash (Ajai) and Randy Overcash (Ginger), grandsons, Destry Overcash (Nicole), Cameron Overcash and Jay Todd (Kim) and her sister Allene Gaither. Blondell was also survived by 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
