Lorenzo Benitez, 76, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026.

Lorenzo was born on August 10, 1949 in Mexico. He was the cherished son of the late Catalino Benitez and Asuncion Velazquez.

Lorenzo was full of life, fun-loving, and truly enjoyed being around people. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. A proud and loving grandfather, Lorenzo treasured every moment spent with his family and grandchildren.

Lorenzo loved the beach, cooking, eating good food, and especially seafood. Whether sharing a meal, telling stories, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, he brought happiness and laughter wherever he went.

Lorenzo will always be remembered for his kind heart, joyful spirit, and the love he shared with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Esperanza Campuzano; children, Agripino Benitez (Maria), Ociel Benitez (Anna), Herbin Benitez (Marina Beltran), Marlin Benitez (Hector Rios), Denise Benitez; grandchildren, Erik, Andy, Haley, Evelyn, Ociel Jr., Sarai, Diego, David, Brian, Ruby, Milani, and Naomi; and great-grandchild, Santiago(Santi) Benitez.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. 

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Kannapolis with Father Blas Caseres officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
