Lois Ann Brawley

Lois Ann Brawley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, & friend, passed away peacefully on 22 October 2025 after a remarkable life defined by love, resilience, & grace.

Born on 17 October 1945, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Lois was the cherished daughter of Carl & Ann Schwarze. She grew up with a deep devotion to family, a value that remained central throughout her life.

Lois built a diverse and accomplished career, beginning with CBS Television in New York City. She later worked with Essex Credit Corporation, specializing in boating and aircraft financing, and ultimately retired from AstraZeneca, where she served as a senior data analyst. Her professional journey reflected her intelligence, adaptability, and quiet determination.

Lois married Demps Brawley, the love of her life and they shared over 40 beautiful years filled with laughter, companionship, and unwavering support. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Outside of work, Lois was known for her exceptional cooking, her love of reading, dancing and her deep joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially those spent on the water. One of her favorite places was on the Chesapeake Bay, where she and Demps created countless memories with family and friends. Whether cruising along in their boat or simply sitting on the dock with her favorite beverage in hand and the golden glow of sunset reflecting off the surface—these were the moments she held dear. Her passions were simple but rich, and she shared them generously with those she loved.

Lois was the proud mother of three children: Scott Messer, Todd Messer (Michelle Messer), and Jacqueline Owens (Craig Flanagan), and a devoted stepmother to Dava Snider (Bill Snider). Her legacy lives on through her adored grandchildren: Sebastian (son of Scott); Jayden (son of Todd and Michelle); Lauren and Tyler (children of Jacqueline); and Gavin and Peyton (children of Dava and Bill).

She will be remembered for her warmth, her quiet strength, and the way she made everyone feel at home in her presence. Her love was steadfast, her wisdom a gift, and her laughter was a light that lifted those around her.

Lois leaves behind a family who deeply loved her and a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The memorial service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park.
