Larry Franklin Spry 87, met his Lord and Savior on Friday morning, September 22, 2023, at Tucker Hospice House. Born February 27, 1936, in Kannapolis, Larry was the son of the late Raymond Franklin Spry and Estelle Bost Spry.
Larry graduated from A L Brown High School in 1954. Early in life he worked for Cannon Mills and later worked for Gamewell Mechanical where he retired. Wanting to stay busy, he went to work for Wesco Signs for several years in retirement. Larry was a long-time member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church. A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Larry Russell “Rusty” Spry, and his wife of 44 years, Phyllis Beam Spry. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Kerley Spry, a daughter Kim Laws, a son in law Kenny Laws, a brother Jack Spry and wife Jan, granddaughters Courtney Triece and husband Caleb and Makenzie Marshall and husband Kelly, three great-granddaughters Harper and Charlotte Triece and Emileigh Marshall, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank his caregivers, nurses, assistants and support personnel at Caremoor Retirement Community and Hospice of Cabarrus County.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 25th at one o’clock in the afternoon at Jackson Park United Methodist Church in Kannapolis. The funeral service will begin at the church at three o’clock with Pastor Laurie Knoespel officiating. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in the Chapel Mausoleum, 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Concord. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jackson Park United Methodist Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
