Kymbra "Kym" R. Lawson

Kymbra R. “Kym” Lawson, 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus. She was born in Cabarrus County on January 27, 1955, to the late Clarence Grant Lawson and Dorcas Gantt Lawson.

Kym worked various jobs throughout her years. She enjoyed drawing and painting. She was musically inclined; she could pick up any instrument and play a tune. Kym loved her family and loved her cats. She was strong-willed and a fierce debater. Kym was a faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Kannapolis.

Kym is survived by her nephew, John Grant Lawson Jr. and his wife, Meaghan; great nieces and nephews, her church family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Grant Lawson Sr.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Memorial United Methodist Church, 1100 W C St, Kannapolis, NC 28081, with Pastor Tina Thompson officiating.
