Kenneth Clinton Reeves

Kenneth Clinton Reeves, 85, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Atrium Health Medical Center following a period of declining health. He is now reunited with many of his loved ones in heaven.

Born December 28, 1938, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., he was a son of the late James Reeves and Antionette Rhyne Reeves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Joyce Cook Reeves and his second wife of 8 years, Marilyn Carpenter Reeves.

He was also preceded in death by two stepchildren, Dale Eugene Barbee and Joy Denise Barbee Oliphant, a brother, James “Jim” Franklin Reeves and two sisters, Betty Reeves Stallings and Joyce Reeves Braswell.

Kenneth was a graduate of Charlotte Mecklenburg School System where he loved playing sports, especially football and basketball. Later in life he was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated two businesses, Reeves Fencing Company until it’s closing, and Reeves Landfill which was started by Ken and Joyce in 1987. Ken enjoyed working and talking about the landfill and he was a part of it until its closing in 2023.

He and his late wife Marilyn were loving members of The Brook Church in China Grove. He dearly loved the Lord and he was loved by all who knew him. He was a caring man who loved his family and loved helping others.

In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with his family, attending  Carolina Panthers football games and Charlotte Hornets basketball games. He also enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastors Jon Harless and Jim Grigg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Landis.

Family members left to cherish his memory include his sister Doris Reeves Robbins, stepdaughters Rhonda Goodman (Tim), Kelly Bost (Brad), stepson-in-law Gary Oliphant and stepdaughter-in-law Lori Barbee, grandchildren Kyle Oliphant (Sabrina Hayter), Joyel Oliphant, Allison Oliphant (Brent Harrison), Cameron Oliphant, Heather Howie, Josh Copeland, Taylor Campbell (Bryan), Haley Bost (Tristin), Reece Bost (Riley), great grandchildren Emma Collins, Nolan Campbell, and Delaney Campbell.

Nieces and nephews include Donna Braswell Ragan (Michael), Sherry Stallings Griffin Tinman (Tim), Mike Stallings (Courtney), Gary Stallings (Robin), Scott Stallings, Jimmy Reeves (Terrie), Rusty Robbins (Betsy), Rick Robbins (Larry), Randy Robbins (Kris), Mary Ruth Smith (Scott), Kim Robbins Josephson (Joe), Kenny Rhyne (Margie), and Rhonda Rhyne.

Although we all miss Ken terribly, we know he is at peace and most importantly with his Lord and Savior.
