Kay Frances Safrit Hardy, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Kay was born on October 16, 1947 in Iredell County. She was the cherished daughter of the late Noland Hardin Safrit and Frances “Christine Farrell Safrit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hardy; the father to her children, Clayton Carl Palmer Sr.; her brothers, David Eugene Safrit, William Hardin Safrait, and James Calvin Safrit.
Kay loved being outdoors, tending to her beautiful flower garden, and spending peaceful days fishing. She was also a wonderful cook who took great pleasure in preparing delicious Cajun and Southern meals for the people she loved.
Above all, Kay’s family was her greatest treasure. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Clayton Carl Palmer Jr. of Salisbury, and Jeffery Scott Plamer (April) of Salisbury; daughters, Angela Broussard (Edward) of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Tonya McMillin (Ben) of Sulphur, Louisiana; sisters, Mary Huneycutt and Doris Smith; brother, Tim Safrit; she was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
